DEUTSCH
Seit 2009 fotografieren Lena Amuat & Zoë Meyer für ihre fortlaufende Serie mathematische Modelle aus verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Sammlungen und Universitäten in ganz Europa.
Vor allem in akademischen Kontexten stellen diese mathematischen Modelle konkrete Visualisierungen oder Denkmodelle von abstrakten Formeln dar. Die Ästhetik der Modelle zeichnet sich durch ihre Materialität und die Spuren ihrer handwerklichen Herstellung aus.
Heutzutage werden sie oft Jahrzehnte nach ihrem eigentlichen Gebrauch in Kisten verpackt entdeckt, da sie durch computergenerierte Modelle ersetzt wurden und in naher Zukunft verschwinden könnten. Alle Fotos wurden auf analogem 35-mm-Film aufgenommen.
ENGLISH
For their series Mathematische Modelle, which has been ongoing since 2009,
Lena Amuat & Zoë Meyer have been photographing mathematical models from
various scientific collections and universities across Europe.
These mathematical models represent concrete visualisations of abstract formulae,
or models of thought, primarily in academic contexts. The aesthetics of these models
are characterised by their materiality and the traces of handmade production.
They are discovered packed away and hidden in boxes, often decades after their actual
use as they have been replaced by computer-generated models and may disappear in the near future. All photographs were shot on analogue 35mm film.
ÜBER DIE KÜNSTLERINNEN
Lena Amuat & Zoë Meyer (*1977 / 1975) leben und arbeiten in Zürich. Sie studierten Fotografie an der Hochschule der Künste in Zürich (1998–2003). und arbeiten seit 2008 zusammen. Im Jahr 2013 schlossen sie ihren MA in Fine Arts an der ZHdK ab.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Lena Amuat & Zoë Meyer (*1977 / 1975) are based in Zurich.
They studied Photography at the University of Arts in Zurich (1998-2003)
and have been collaborating since 2008. In 2013 they completed their MA in Fine Arts at ZHdK.
TABLEAU ZURICH ist ein gemeinnütziger Ort für visuelle Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. Er befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe von Bellevue, Bahnhof Stadelhofen und Kunsthaus Zürich. Es werden pro Jahr zwei Ausstellungen gezeigt, welche 365 Tage im Jahr frei zugänglich sind.
TABLEAU ZURICH is a non-profit space for visual art in a public area. It is located in the immediate proximity of Bellevue, Stadelhofen train station and Kunsthaus Zurich. There will be two exhibitions per annum, which will be open to the public 365 days a year.
